One of the sweetest sets we've ever heard from the Chilean scene of the 70s – great work by a group who are heavy on electric piano and vibes, and who also have a hell of an alto saxophonist in the mix too! The music is funky jazz, but with some deeper spiritual currents too – never slavishly trying to copy American work, and instead really set free to explore its own energy – which the group does wonderfully throughout the album! This isn't one of those rare records with one good track – and instead, the whole thing's massively deep, and the kind of set we can really sink our ears into – even if we know nothing about the group at all. Keyboards are by Guillermo Olivares, who also plays some organ – and other players include Guillermo Riffo on vibes, Sandro Salvati on alto, Sergio Meli on drums, and William Mino on bass. Riffo handled the arrangements – and titles include the originals "Providencia 12 Hrs", "Paquito", "Alba", and "Samba Costanera" – plus nice versions of Pharoah Sanders "Hum Allah" and Herbie Hancock's "Maiden Voyage" – both done in unique ways. (In a die-cut sleeve – with cut corners to emphasize the cube-like graphics!)
