Formed in Tokyo, 1978, Yellow Magic Orchestra was a Japanese electronic music band by Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi and Ryuichi Sakamoto. "Yellow Magic Orchestra" is their first album,an early example of synth-pop, using the microprocessor-based Roland MC-8 Microcomposer music sequencer, which allowed the creation of new electronic sounds, and its sampling of video game sounds.
