Greek producer Lex makes a welcome return to Bengoa’s B2 Recordings this March with his new single ‘Fast Jags’ backed with remixes from the label boss himself and Shall Not Fade regular Felipe Gordon.
Over the past few years Bengoa’s B2 Recordings has been carving out its signature sound with a back catalogue of material blurring the lines between House, Balearic-tinged Disco, and Techno, all of which have encompassed a deep and soulful aesthetic. Here the story continues with the label marking its tenth release and bringing fellow Greek artist Lex back into the spotlight.
Lex’s original mix of ‘Fast Jag’s leads, laid out across seven minutes with intricate organic percussion and a funk-infused bass groove running alongside Moog style synth licks and jazzy keys.
Bengoa’s ‘Raw Edit’ follows next, reshaping the original with a more dubbed out, gritty feel to the melodic elements before Felipe Gordon’s ‘Deep Funk Remix’ rounds things out, the Colombian producer adds him own mark here, extracting the core soul of the original while stirring in his own crisp drums, hazy stab sequences and ethereal pad flutters on top.
